Spring into blogging

Spring has arrived here down under. We have been busy in the garden, planting summer vegies and warm-loving annuals. The transition between winter and spring wasn't that dramatic. Though we had some frosty nights and really cold days, we only lost few plants like papayas and habanero chillies. Not feeling hard done by, as we were happy with our winter crop this year. In saying this, I have taken many photos of our vegetable garden and of my she-shed (for tea time). I feel a little slack because I haven't shared as much in my blog as in my Instagram. Now that I have my own desk in the spare room aka vintage room, I will be able to sit down and post as much as I can, phew (thanks to my DH). I am joining Bernideen for Tea in the garden

Found this vase/jug at an antique store in Milthorpe and this Colclough tea cup at Vinnies (Charity shop) in Orange.

Year after year these self-seeding sweet peas are producing in abundance.

Fear of getting upstaged by other flowers, this Clivia is showing off in style

What would we do without these hardworking bees

Apple blossoms are small but attract lots of attention

The versatile Calendula is so prolific, it spreads its seeds in every corner of the garden

Well, almost tea time

This $1.00 garage sale find cactus is covered with flowers

These red cabbage are too slow-growing, winter left them to spring

These Bokchoy are so impatient, must think we are so slow in picking that they have gone to seed

We still have a row of cauliflower, I hope the white cabbage butterflies won't discover them

Fruit-laden dwarf black mulberry is begging for anyone who can empty its bounty

And the star of the day: Mr Lincoln

  1. Happy post of beautiful things in life. First, you found the beautiful jug in that antic shop and I´m always attracted by your sunny yellow teaset. You have already so many sweet peas flowering in spring. I still have some too, but they are almost finished it´s really autumn. Lush looking vegetables and fruits I see, wonderful, that will be a nice harvest.
Wish you a happy new week Aida!

  2. YOur pictures are always so pretty, lucky for you the sweet peas coming back year on year.. they are a delightful flower, we have some, but they never stay ... now we have autumn arriving soon, and its so much colder... I visited my son and his family last January in Aussieland, they live in Perth suburbs, and I just fell in love with the Australian way of life.. However I do have a daughter and her family in Canada, and I also fell in love with Canada too, so with three other children living in England and their families, I am spoilt for choice where to visit! I do wish I was coming back to Australia this winter, but I am saving up to return in 017, when my son has a big birthday celebration.. what he doesn't know is that his sister and her family are going to be a surprise at the event for his birthday, so looking forward to seeing his face!!! Meanwhile, thank you for following me, and I shall be back to see whats happening in your world... Have a super weekend, and week coming up.. all the best J

  3. Aida:
Your Mulberry Bush brought back memories from childhood and eating them at a house on our street. How can it be spring where you are? It will snow tonight up in the mountains here in Colorado. Your garden looks lovely!

Oh, I DID come to Sydney and we went out to Pearl Beach. Bill had to go again shortly after. I love Australia and I really loved New Zealand, too. It was my first time there.
    Take care, friend!

  6. Hi Aida, I am so glad that you visited my blog; because now I have found yours! You are heading into Spring, my favorite season. We had a very mild winter last year, but predicted to be a bad one this year. Time will tell, I guess. I adore Sweet Peas. In fact, I often call my little grandchildren, sweet pea. Your flowers are gorgeous! I had Calendulas at my previous home and they spread for years and then all of a sudden they were gone. Love your roses! My rose garden is young, three years old. Two years ago I lost my Mr. Lincoln to the cold winter. I have a link party, Share Your Cup Thursday. It's about sharing the things that make you happy. I'd love if you shared some time!
    hugs,
    Jann

  7. Hello Aida,

You had me when I saw the Sweet Peas then again when I saw your Mulberry tree, I love eating those. The teacup and saucer you picked up at Vinnie's is just so beautiful. Enjoy drinking your cuppa out of that one. Thanks for such a garden inspired post.

    Happy days.
    Bev.

  9. Your garden pictures are very nice, Aida. Oh my goodness, that red rose made my heart sing. It's so pretty. And I love that yellow tea set. It's a unique tea pot with a cheerful color. It's funny how you talk of spring, when we are right in the heart of Autumn. Love seeing your pictures, dear Aida. They make me smile every time I visit.

  10. Hi there ... I've just 'hopped' over from Sheri's blog.
Must admit it was the word teapot in your blog title had me curious, as I'm known in the family as a tea pot - I do like my cuppa's!

Enjoyed the read and the lovely photo's, thank you.

    All the best Jan

  11. Aida, you garden is always gorgeous, whatever the season, with its abundance of green veggies in the winter, and now you must be planting summer veggies, awaiting their tasty goodness. But, me being a flower fanatic, I always stop to stare at your pretties, and your bouquets of sweet peas made me smile, this cold and rainy and grey Toronto morning!

Enjoy, my friend, and happy weekend to you!

    Hugs,
    Poppy
    P.S. Is it teatime yet?!
