City to Surf 2013

There's a nip in the air tonight, a strange change after a gusty-dry warm day yesterday which caused uncontainable bush fires West of Sydney. The fires left some families homeless, lots of properties damaged and over 500 hectares of bushland burnt.

Juggling between work, church duties, my cake decorating class and tending to our garden before sun sets left me on a brink of exhaustion. I'm counting the days till my holidays in November, can't wait!

This post is a little late,  but my goal is to share this iconic event which happens once a year on the second Sunday of August. With over 85,000 registered participants, fundraisers and charities alike are also celebrating after fundraising $3.7m  for more than 750 Australian charities this year. Our Church members from all ages are committed to help and serve participants every year by doing their bit as volunteers. I have uploaded photos from this year and some from previous years. Please check out some of the most interesting and comical costumes the participants are wearing. Must have made their 14km walk enjoyable and fun.
Hope you are all having a wonderful week. Take care and God bless.

I'm joining Sandi of Rose Chintz Cottage for  Tea Time Tuesday
Martha of Martha's Favourites for Tea Cup Tuesday
Terri of Artful Affirmation
Bernideen for Tea time

Wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, we are ready to face the day, hyped with energy.

This spectacular view is also one reason why we keep coming back.

The day was perfect, awaiting runners, joggers, walkers and even those who are pushing prams.

The team of volunteers, tirelessly prepared layers of cups; ready for serving.

Just before the event started, we checked out the view down the street.

Mama Morrell(one of our seniors at Church);  even got up early to be part of this special event.

One of the elite wheelchair athletes.

Awesome women of Mountain View Adventist Church.

We thought we might have a bit of photo shoots.

That's another City to Surf done. Council is doing their fair share of cleaning.

We took advantage of a perfect day, by having a picnic in one of the most breathtaking view of the headland on the North shore(Vaucluse).

And my day isn't complete without capturing nature at its best.

It was a very tiring day full of fun and inspiration. I went home had a nap and made myself a cup of tea with a slice of gluten-free orange cake.

  2. Wow, Aida, what fabulous views you had for your charity run! Simply amazing! The city shot is just gorgeous and that house on the cliff! Oh, I could live there. You know, in my other life where I am the queen! Tee Hee! It is so wonderful to see all the fabulous people gathering for worthy causes. Hearts of gold!
Oh, Aida, I smiled when I saw your tea cups. I inherited my Mother's Royal Albert tea set in that very same pattern! I really do need to buy a special cabinet to display them. They are still in the box, but I am always on the look-out for that special cabinet. Your cake looks so yummy!
Hope you have a nice end to your week!
    Hugs xoxo

  4. Aida,
What a wonderful event this was! I loved browsing through all the pictures of the runners; they were so colorful and full of life! The North shore view is beautiful. I'm sure that cup of tea was just what you needed afterwards, and the orange cake looks very yummy.

So nice of you to volunteer on this festive occasion.

    Love,

  5. Thank you for visiting my blog, I've added you to my list for blogs to follow on Bloglovin.
That was quite the walk/run event with some wild costumes. The tea and sweet you came home to looks lovely, I like the handle of the spoon.
