My little secret

Hello dear friends, I hope your weekend has been enjoyable and productive. We were blessed to have an extra day off this weekend. This will be the last long weekend for a while for us here down under. While winter sets in, everything seems to slow down especially around the garden. Rose garden is almost ready for its annual pruning, bulbs beginning to shoot, succulents and orchids have been transplanted. Lots of fertilising, mulching, deadheading and pruning.  On the other hand my vintage-hunting never ceases, as markets, vintage fairs and school fetes are calling. So here I am on the prowl, for things I thought I can't live without.

The naked truth of my secret

I have kept it in the dark, and was in self-denial

But I thought I should come clean and shed a bit of light..

Started as a slight attraction, of all its glorious colour and form. Age didn't seem to matter..

I thought I'd be happy with this particular one

Till I found myself searching for more

Cute ones, quirky ones, there are no exceptions...

I found Laughing Larry to lead the camaraderie

Farmyard theme joined the fun

Anything floral, bright yellow or blue, but pink is one of my favourite hues

I thought of giving up when I reach a certain number

But it's like a quick sand, the more I struggle, the more I sink deeper and deeper

Now is not the time to give up, or to topple

It's utterly, utterly mortifying but the happiness is unwavering every time I add more to my collection.

Here I am confessing, and promise to share more of them, one post at a time. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your sweet and kind message. Wishing you all a wonderful week.

  1. Hello Aida,
First time for me visiting your blog-and it's a beauty! n case you're wondering where I came from, you circled me on Google+. I am still trying to figure out how that works, but you seemed like a nice person, so I circled you back!
I really don't collect anything -kind of a minimalist, but I adore looking at people's china collections. Especially ones that have roses on them.

  3. Aida, it's no secret that you have a knack for collecting, styling, and serving us up such pretty tea parties! I tend to be more traditional in my tastes, and so, all the flowery teapots and china, in my biased opinion, are scene stealers and surely upstage some of the others, just sayin'...They're all adorable! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!

    Hugs,

  4. Oh dear Aida, your tea collection is just wonderful. I really enjoyed looking at all the different and unique tea cups and tea pots that you have.......and you know how much I love your roses. You know, in the blue section, I noticed the tea pot in the left corner, and I have a cup in that same pattern. Mine is from Poland, and I am part Polish, so I couldn't resist. I LOVE the white rose cream and sugar holders, they are so pretty. And who wouldn't love that little froggy? For some reason, the blue tea cups are the prettiest to me. My wedding china was even in blue.

I am sipping on a cup of tea right now while writing this. Have a happy week, Aida.

    love,
    ~Sheri

  7. Hello Aida
Thanks for visiting my post. It's almost a sickness, isn't it? Collections, that is. LOL Restraint is a hard thing for me when it comes to tea things but I'm managing it quite well. Something has to quite unique to come home with me now.
If you use your pretties on a regular basis, they are worth having.
    Happy Tea Tuesday.

  18. Hi Aida, wanted to let you know that I am amazed at your collection - I have a rather soft spot for beautiful china and lovely patterns myself and tend to buy way too many plates and things to add to my ever growing collection. You did such a nice job presenting your pieces with these lovely photos!
Greetings from Bonn (Germany) - I certainly enjoyed my visit here,

  22. Love your collection. When you love collecting something, it is very hard to stop. I collect to many things LOL. Now that I am older I have stopped and need to give stuff away to people who love it.
Have a great week. I've been to Sydney and I love it.

  23. This is so funny to me as I just did a "new count" this morning finding I now have 40 English Cups and Saucers. I must have recounted 5 times because I kept counting wrong. Your treasures are all wonderful. I see on line so many companies in Australia that "rent" tea sets for functions. Very interesting. I am so glad you shared today. Love them all!
