Farewell Zinnias

Summer is well behind us, but my Zinnias are continuously blooming. The veggie patch is still producing abundantly. We were disappointed with quinces and mandarins as their fruit were infested with fruit flies, and so were the apples. I guess that is the downside of not using pesticides in the garden, we might have to  try a different approach next season. Autumn made sure that its arrival has been noticed, with its coolness wafting in the air, darkness lingers a little longer in the morning and some trees already show some changes in their leaves.

Hello dear friends, hope you are enjoying the change of season on your side of the world. I for one welcome the cooler weather, as it helps me in getting a good night sleep. Anyhow, apologies for my long absence in the blog land. I am hoping to get back to posting regularly after Easter when my photography class is finished and I can reclaim my craft room.

You Zinnias are coming to the end, mine I'm going to sow, bought yesterday seeds. Nice harvest of vegetables and gorgeous bananas from own garden. And then I see that stinky Stapelia flower, despite the smell a beauty.

  5. Dear Aida, I hope you are enjoying the cool breezes of Autumn. It is spring here, and planting things in my garden. What a nice bunch of bananas these are, and I didn't realize you have cucumbers and squash and beans in your garden. My husband just planted tomatoes, squash, onions, garlic, and such. I can't wait to see it all grow. What an unusual flower this is - it looks like it has tiger spots.

Have a very nice Easter week, Aida. Enjoy your Autumn - it's my favorite season of all!

    love, ~Sheri

  6. Hello Aida,

That is a lovely book isn't it, remember reading about it in Country Style and ordering it from the library. What a wonderful lot of produce you got from your garden, We have the same problem with apples, certainly don't want to spray, I think ours is coddling moth. For some reason the birds have stayed away this year so we have a fairly decent crop.

Happy Easter to your and your family Aida,

    Happy days.
    Bev.
