A good rainfall on 1st day of Fall

I would like to say thank you friends for your birthday wishes and sweet comments. I was so touched by your kindness and thoughts. I am truly grateful for your friendship. Although we are miles away, your friendship seems close to me.

We are truly delighted for a good amount of rainfall in the last few days. And the forecast is even getting better, as more rain is heading our way, which means cooler weather and a greener, happier garden. Listening to the pitter-pattering sound of the rain, mindful of my fingers while peeling, coring and chopping some of our home-grown fruit and vegie as I prepared them for pickling and preserving, I can't wipe the smile off my face as I was full of anticipation to see the end-result of my hard work. I don't know about you, but I find this process therapeutic and relaxing.
Hope you are all enjoying some good weather.  Thank you for stopping by.

I took photos of our table grapes when they were still brimming with sweetness and blushed with the darkness of anti-oxidants. Heard it through the grapevine; friends and family came by and took their fair-share - a bucketful each day before it all got eaten by feathered friends.

Myriad recipes come to mind, when I realised a basketful of apples were picked from our yard.

Somehow pleased with myself.

Everything looks happy except this little doggie

Everywhere I looked I see lush greenery

The birds are happy to see this bath not empty, as the rain fills it up each day

This dovecote is useful to all creepy-critters and crawlies

Time to recline and enjoy some down time.

One of my market finds, love the rose scented candle made by a lady who lives up the coast

A blue H&K Tunstall vase, purchased from a junk shop, filled with Mr Lincoln and Tropical sunset flushes.

Thought I'd use this Wedgewood tea tin as a vase. Trying to be creative? Maybe not.

Isn't it glorious to see such lushness after rain? You are very blessed to have this bounty...and I want to get some of those gorgeous grapes right now! :) I have another dear blog friend in Australia who has the very same grapes...she discovered the vine only this year...

  3. Oh my goodness! What a bounty of beautiful fruits and veggies and flowers! How wonderful to be able to preserve them for those winter months and know that you worked hard to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Aida, I cannot stop staring at your pretty bouquets!! They are perfect complements to your interiors, which look so invitingly cozy! It must be so relaxing sitting in that light filled space, reading or chatting with a friend, surrounded by such loveliness!

Have a great weekend and Happy Autumn!!

    xoxo

  4. Aida you have so many fresh fruits and vegetables, the vine with grapes looks beautiful, so do your interior, love the colours. I think the tin is quite a pretty idea to put the roses in.
Have a very nice begin of autumn weekend!

  5. Hello Aida,
I love your post! Thank you for taking us on a tour of your home and garden! It is lovely to see all the greenery and fruits. Your kitchen work today is my favorite! I love putting things up too. In fact, I have some gorgeous rhubarb ready to be made into jam first thing in the morning. Yum!
Your full jars look amazing. I am sure you are thrilled with your handiwork that will serve you well in the coming months.
I find your home so warm and inviting. Your living area with peonies, afghans and pretty pillows look wonderful, and I love that you have stacks of magazines on your coffee table! It looks like a cozy spot to rest and read.
    Hugs,
    Terri

  7. Dear Aida,
I'm so glad you are getting some rain. We are also receiving lots of rain lately. It makes everything so much nicer after a rain fall. Your vegetables and fruits look amazing, and how nice that you canned some of them. You know, your blog always has so much color and life and it reminds me of another special blog that I used to look at, Dear Daisy Cottage. It was one of the reasons why me and the girls started a blog of our own. Since then, Kim has changed her blog to Imagery by Kimberly (on our side bar). She is a special soul who loves Photography. I notice a lot of red in your home and garden, and she has lots of red in her house too. I love that rose scented candle, and I have been wanting Jess to make me a candle in a tea cup like that. And your red roses......you know how much I love them.

Have a beautiful week, Aida, and Yes, you should be pleased with yourself.

    Love,
    ~Sheri
