Mother's Day

My husband, sweet and thoughtful as he is cooked up a storm to create a gourmet breakfast-in-bed for me. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, sautéed button mushrooms on wholemeal bread was on the menu and to top it off he whipped up some pancakes complete with maple syrup and ice cream. What a scrumptious Mother's Day breakfast indeed!
And from my Unica Hija ( daughter), she stayed up late last night to create one of her specialty cakes (red velvet). I'm am truly spoiled and blessed this Mother's Day.
This year, my sister in law hosted our Mother's Day lunch at her beautiful cosy home, nestled on one acre of land approximately 1 hour drive North West of Sydney's CBD.

Thank you to my dear sister in law for allowing me to feature her house on this special Mother's Day post.

Wishing everyone a happy Mother's Day.

Quick stop

This week has come and gone, like a thief in the night; it caught me wrong-footed and left me with nothing but a trail of time lost!
Scurrying through the foggy morning, with a mission of beating the peak morning traffic is my daily routine. How I get to work in one piece everyday is a bliss, for my wandering mind often sends me afield.
Ahhhh......I long for a short break to catch up.
As much as I would like to post more country views, the luxury of time is one I don't have right now.
Here are some pix of old country town Goulburn - the first inland city in Australia - centrally located between Sydney and Canberra, about 2 hours drive (195 Km) south of Sydney.

Thank you all for stopping by.

Blessings,
Aida

This is the big Merino a 15-meter tall concrete ram located in Goulburn. The lower ground contains a gift shop and a wool display on the second floor.

Paragon café is quintessentially part of our stop over in Goulburn, a plateful of scones, jam and cream completes a freshly brewed pot of tea to satisfy the palate for Devonshire tea cravings.

No weekend blues

Saturday has to be my fave day of the week. I get to spend time with my family and friends at Church. I usually start my day with a nice cup of tea, soaking up the morning sun out on the front verandah watching the rainbow lorikeets swooping, squawking while feeding on the nectar out
of the grevillea bush and some banksias.
A cup of tea is a perfect way to shake off those end of the week blues!

Technically it's only Friday in some parts of the world. But for us here down under it's already Saturday.

They somehow love staring at our picture and nibbling on the frame.

And sitting on Mr Tassel's hand ready to have a little fly around.

I'm featuring our little Bludgies (Budgies), Zen and Hinch!

Today I'm joining the party of Kathryn Ferguson @ http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2013/05/anythingblue.friday.week7.html

Thank you Kathryn for the invite. Looking forward to more parties with you.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend.

Mayday, Mayday......a pot of home-grown herbal tea for remedy.

Throbbing head, runny nose and a sore throat....just a few of the symptoms that were enough to send me to bed.
I'm switching to unconventional medicine for natural remedy. I have all the resources and ingredients to create my own concoction to suit my body needs. Growing your own herbs for a variety of reasons has never been so easy and fulfilling. Not only do we treasure their practical uses but they're cheap, fresh and readily available. I rely on them for their potency and efficacy.
With the help of some experts, I was able combine their ideas and added some of my choice herbs to add a little punch to my personal brew.

Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia Citriodora) is native to Australia, can grow up to 5 meters. It's known for its versatility of uses from kitchen savoury, pharmaceutical applications to cosmetic products. Its healing properties includes easing sore throats and it has some sedative effects.

Lemon Verbena has been known or its aromatic qualities and and treatment of various ailments. Medical research found it useful for treating nervous tension, palpitations, anxiety, bronchitis, headaches, colds, nausea, congestion, cramps and even colds.

Cardamom ginger - known for its fragrant leaves. Can be used to wrap fish, rice or add to tea.

Thank you dear friends for visiting. Wishing you all a wonderful week.
